A variety of public relations, special events, and community relations have built Turner’s portfolio for more than 14 years. A former newspaper reporter, Turner understands and respects the media. Turner brings a variety of agency experience and non-profit expertise to the Markit Strategies team and has a proven background in media relations with placements in everything from Fox 2 local news to Parade magazine. She has also worked on media relations for Motown Winter Blast and Super Bowl XL, which resulted in over 50 million positive media impressions, and The Parade Company, producers of America’s Thanksgiving ParadeĀ® and Target Fireworks.
Prior to joining Markit Strategies, Turner held the position of Director of Membership and Marketing Operations for the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit. Turner has strong local media contacts and a great understanding and passion for the city of Detroit and the metropolitan Detroit region.
Previously, a former New Yorker, Turner worked at Weber Shandwick Worldwide and managed the New York Road Runners Club/ New York City Marathon for more than three years. There she developed relationships with national and international media and credentialed hundreds of media from across the world resulting in millions of impressions for the NYC Marathon – the world’s largest one-day spectator event.
